cubbies visit

The Chicago Cubs have been in town for the last three days, and Claire and I went to see them play the Nationals all three times. Sadly for Cubs-fan Claire, the Nationals took two out of three games.

The Nationals won Friday night by a 5-3 score after rookie catcher Wil Nieves hit his first major-league homerun in the bottom of the ninth. The Cubs came back strong on Saturday to post a 7-0 shutout. Sunday was a cold and misty day that saw the Nationals rebound for a 2-0 victory.

This wasn't the first weekend we had been to the Nationals' brand new stadium, the aptly named Nationals Park. The team held an open house of sorts a few weeks ago, so Claire and I went over and checked out different seats and walked through the suites and other fancy places I'll never get to see again. Thanks, lobbying reform! Anyway, it's a great place to see a game - it seems like the whole design was to go vertical and put the cheap seats closer to the field than they are most other places. Thumbs up.
